The Weald Way Churches: East Hoathly Parish Church

East Hoathly Parish Church is a treasured building in the heart of the community, but more than a building, it is a family. A family of Christians doing their best to live out a Gospel of Love, Inclusion and Peace. Our parish is in partnership with two other parishes; The Parish of Chiddingly and The Parish of Framfield, Blackboys and Palehouse Common.
This partnership became enshrined in law on Sunday 1st of March 2026, when a new Benefice (The Weald Way Benefice) was formed. Our three parishes remain distinct within the new benefice with three Parish Churches and governed by three Parochial Church Councils.
Fr. James is now the first Incumbent (Rector) of the Weald Way Benefice.
East Hoathly Parochial Church Council (PCC)
Each of the three Benefice Parishes is governed by a PCC comprising of elected members and church officers. East Hoathly’s PCC members are:
Charles Stringer – Church Warden
Gaynor Robson – Treasurer (Not a member of the PCC)
Lindsay Wigens – PCC Secretary
Gillian Greaves – Safeguarding Officer
David Burrough – Member
Barry Clark – Member
Kevin Berry – Member
Marion Wilson – Member

Church Finances: As difficult as it is to talk about money as it relates to the things of God, we have to be pragmatic and understand that money matters. To have a full time priest in our three parishes costs some £83000 (27.5k per church) and this is before we even think about heating, lighting, maintaining and preserving our beautiful buildings. Contrary to popular belief, the parish church recieves no funding from the Central Church of England or from the State. The cost of all our Work, Worship and Mission has to be met by the generosity of our congregations and the wider community.
We are always in need of funds, and if you are able to help out in any way, whether that is by gifting your time, expertise or money, we’d love to hear from you!
Gaynor our treasurer is always happy to advise on all things financial, or if you are able to make a one off or regular donation to East Hoathly Church, our bank details are below:

As well as the ‘main’ rota of services across the three Weald Way Churches, it is also necessary to produce a rota for each parish church, allocating Readers, Intercessors, Sidespersons and Communion assistants.
East Hoathly’s March rota is below.
